Last year some of us gathered at Dude N Dans Bar. We would like to do that again this year. Casual or Holiday Attire, everyone pays for their own food and beverages. American Legion will have a tent outdoors at front door of ACE Hardware in Steamboat Springs to raise funds for Veteran Emergency Fund and recruiting members. NOV 7, 2018 - 1700 HRS - TILL... - 0830 HRS - Presentation at Soda Creek Elementary - 1700 HRS - Presentation at Soda Creek Elementary FORMAL DEDICATION WW1 AND AM LEGION 100 YEAR EXHIBIT AT TREAD OF PIONEERS MUSEUM This event will be open to the public. NOV 9 - 12th, 2018 - VETERANS DAY OBSERVED AND KOREAN VETERAN MEDAL PRESENTATION This year Veterans Day is actually on Sunday Nov. 11th. The schedule over these couple days is as follows: Wednesday Nov 7th - 0830 HRS - Soda Creek Elementary Veterans Presentation - 1700 HRS - Formal dedication of WWI and Legion 100 YR Exhibit at Tread of Pioneers Museum. Open to the public. Friday Nov 9th - 0630 HRS - Breakfast at VFW - 1300 HRS - INVITATION ONLY Korean Medal Presentation luncheon at Holiday Inn Saturday Nov 10th - Dinner at Ore House for Veterans (Tentative) Sunday Nov 11th ACTUAL VETERANS DAY - 0700 - 1900 HRS - ONGOING - FREE, breakfast, lunch or dinner at Johnny B Goods - 1100 HRS - Ringing of Bells across Routt County - 1700 HRS - Dinner at Ore House for Veterans FREE DINNER (details emailed out) Monday Nov 12th - 0920 HRS - Presentation at Strawberry Creek Elementary - 1130 - 1200 HRS - Casey's Pond Doak Walker visit to senior Veterans NOV 18, 2018 - TURKEY BINGO AT VFW This is an annual event that the community loves!! - 1200 -1400 HRS - First Session - 1400 - 1700 HRS - Second Session CLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER. OPENING OF HISTORY EXHIBIT AT TREAD OF PIONEERS MUSEUM. Exhibit opens to the public on WW1 and AM LEG 100 YEARS at Treat of Pioneer Museum. Admission required for NON- MEMBERS. OCT 11, 2018 - 1900 HRS JOINT MEETING COMMUNITY CENTER Alot of planning for details of November activities needs to happen at this meeting hope to see many of you there. Non Members welcome. OCT 27, 2018 - 1200 HRS DISTRICT VFW MEETING Meeting will be in Meeker, so if you want to ride share be at the at 0930 hrs at Community Center in Steamboat to ride along. OCT 27 , 2018 - 1700 HRS FLAG RETIREMENT / BONFIRE / POTLUCK Flag burning / retirement ceremony and potluck will be taking place. Bring your tattered flags so they can be properly retired, along with a dish to share. Event will only take place if weather is good, otherwise cancelled. Further details will be emailed out. OCT 31, 2018 - 1730 HRS - TILL...HAND OUT CANDY HALLOWEEN American Legion and VFW always hand out candy for the Steamboat Springs annual Halloween event on main street. |

AUGUST 2018AUG 1, 2018 - VETERANS CHARITY RIDE
This is the first year the American Legion and VFW have sponsored a one day short event. Disabled Combat Veterans on their way to Sturgis, stopped in Steamboat Springs for lunch, raffle and camaraderie with local veterans. See more at: www.veteranscharityride.org |

Steamboat Pro Rodeo was gracious and let us have a booth at the rodeo grounds for two Saturdays this summer. We raised funds for our Veteran Emergency Needs fund. This was a joint effort between the American Legion and VFW Posts. |

JULY 2018 - HOST WARRIOR HIKE MEMBERS IN STEAMBOAT
Each year for the past 3 consecutive years, the American Legion has sponsored the Warrior Expedition. Combat Veterans with PTSD hike the continental Divide from April through October, with Steamboat Springs, CO as one of their stops along the way. We set them up with a hotel room and supplies for a couple days so they can rest and regroup before continuing on their healing journey. See more at: warriorexpeditions.org/ |

JULY 4, 2018 - 4TH OF JULY PARADE
The annual 4th of July parade is a really BIG DEAL here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The American Legion and VFW Posts here join together to showcase both the mounted Colorguard, and the past two years a large Army TANK with Veterans on it. |
