WHAT WE DO – WHY WE DO IT-WHO BENEFITS
WHAT WE DO
Provide service for Veterans, their families and work to make America a better place to live.
Legion Service officers, provide representation and guidance for Veterans and their families when applying for VA benefits and compensation.
Legislative, and lobby work at the Local, State, and National level for improved VA programs and benefits, and the funding for these VA programs.
Need A Lift Booklet, contains information on Scholarship programs and Grants. Youth oriented Americanism programs, Boys and Girls State, oratory contest based on the Constitution of The United States.
Nation Emergency Fund, Veterans Helping Veterans, American Legion emergency relief fund designed to provide financial assist for Legion members who lost the use of their personnel home due to an act of nature.
Temporary Financial Assistance is another Legion sponsored financial assistance program designed for Veterans and active duty personnel who have children in the household. The Veteran must be eligible for American Legion membership. Assistance with financial difficulties that are the result of being activated to serve in the Armed Forces, or due to loss of employment through no fault of their own, is available for the family. Verification of the families need an application form is required prior to receiving grant money that is used to cover a variety of normal household expenses and unexpected medical expenses.
WHY WE DO IT. For “God and Country”
The opening statement of the Legion Preamble informs us of why we provide these services; therefore it is our duty and mission to assist all Veterans, their families, and work youth Americanism programs.
WHO BENEFITS? Veterans, Veteran Families, and America’s Children and Youth benefit.
American Legion programs are beneficial to The Veteran, the Veterans Family and the community when they are implemented for those who the programs are designed to serve. “Mutual Helpfulness” is served according to our Preamble.
